politics is a shitshow who in their right mind would want to do politics when there are so many other things you could do with your life

but why would you expect charismatic people to be more likely to have a right mind?

they might be more informed because they're better at collaborating with people and absorbing energies, on the one hand on the other hand, they can get away with saying dumb shit, and so might come to think it more readily, without adversarial intellectual forces hm

one thing I don't get is, charisma in politics is in such low supply, one very charismatic person could swoop in and take all the babies' lollipops is there not a single such person?

especially in certain niches like in europe, there are far right populist parties in every country, and every single one of them is lead by a complete dumb fucking numbnut

Strange definition of charisma on which people who get thousands of people chanting their names are somehow not charismatic

I’d cede that a lot of these people are ‘unlikable’ or physically weird But a lot of times not finding them charismatic just means you’re not the target audience & then there are these thundering crowds and unbelievable numbers of people desperately wishing for their victory...

and now imagine what the crowds would be like if the politician was charismatic!

Meh No offense meant, but I think almost everyone shitting on politicians from afar would have a physiological, flustered, submissive reaction to Trump, to GW Bush, etc if met in person. I think what you see on TV cuts a hell of a lot out. I get that these people aren’t Clinton
