My FIL was born and raised in Azerbaijan. Fluent Turkish speaker. I think maybe his mother was Persian and father was Turkish or Azerbaijani? Either way, I’m about to get a history lesson.

I was misled. There’s a large portion of Iran that is known as Azerbaijan where the Turkic Persians live. That’s where he is from. His take on the situation: proxy war where turkey promised to help the Azerbaijanis take back “their” land and Russia and Iran said “lol no”.

Age old conflict. No right or wrong answer. Thousands of years of history. “Really it is the Albanians land, if you go back far enough. Interesting. I’ll have to check that out.

Russia, persia and turkey have all been in control of the area at one time or another. So have the greeks and romans if you want to look at it that way.

He hasn’t actually said “pointless bullshit” but I think if my wife (and his) wasn’t here he would. “They would be a much more powerful country if they worked together, which they did once.”

Probably low grade proxy war but he thinks one little “trouble” and you could get a war with
vs
and
and then who knows who else gets involved.
maybe. Or
.
Maybe not likely but could become a war stretching from Syria to India. Because of a little border dispute.1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
