my sense is that the world's perception of the US has shifted greatly this year and much of power is perception additionally, US institutions have clearly been greatly weakened

it's not a matter of the current state (the US is still vastly more powerful than everybody else on all relevant measures), but whether that state will change

will people continue to trust the dollar will other countries accelerate military growth will america's culture continue to dominate i just don't know any more and i think the mere perception of weakness may be sufficient to effect major change

weirdly my sense is american culture is more dominant than ever maybe people are mad but like that bulgarian (??) sports team was out defending Rittenhouse there were hundreds of international floyd protests us culture is eating everything

yeah, it's all more questions for the future than assessment of the present that said, i am wondering whether we are moving from being an exporter of spectacle, to being the Spectacle ourselves also note that movies are increasingly made to fit chinese tastes, not american

true but I don't think movies matter as much as they used to the more they fit chinese tastes the less the rest of the world cares I can't prove this just a vibe
