sure and if he wasn't i wouldn't even begin to take him seriously but what i know is: 1) modern art often takes a lot of skill (not always!) so i'm immediately skeptical of his claim that the first is harder to do than the third

2) historically, at least, modern artists were well trained in basic draughtsmanship, etc, and their work was based on the fundamental principles you learn in older styles 3) i see shitloads of people doing all sorts of styles, including older styles

TL;DR: Scurvy came back when the British Navy stopped using fresh lime juice, but it wasn't noticed at first because going faster meant you didn't usually get it.
