Note that Nature Scientific Reports is very different from Nature. It's basically a pay-to-play journal under nature's brand. It has sooome good research, but also a lot of trash. IMO this paper deserves basically zero attention from anyone not teaching a class on statistics.
IMO the biggest red flags: their correlation gets *weaker* as they expand their dataset (they try to spin this as good which is hilarious), the "lag time" hints at them having lots of free variables for p-hacking purposes, and @MaskedTorah's point about p-value definition.
