It is true that “black lives matter” (the lives of black persons) but Black Lives Matter (the organization) DOES NOT MATTER. When it vanishes, the world will be better off.

Indeed. The question I wanted to ask you is whether you think that victimhood culture is a degeneration of dignity culture due to dignity culture's emphasis on third party mediation of conflicts.

Hmm, AFAIK, we had that sort of thing in the Old West, which was resolved by gunfights. Third party mediation was introduced later to stop that sort of thing.

Wild West was an *honor* culture, not a dignity culture.

Is there a significant distinction?

Yes. > Honor cultures place importance on socially conferred worth, reputation, and a positive social image, all of which can be granted or taken away by others. In contrast, dignity cultures place importance on context independent, individual, and inherent worth

You can literally see the transition playing out in the Iliad. Agamemnon should have the greatest HONOR since he is the High King. But Achilles has VIRTUE. Should he not have more HONOR? But if one has VIRTUE, does one really need the HONOR? The question of Socrates.

Middle Eastern countries that practice “honor killings” will do such things because of the “dishonor” brought upon their family by, e.g. a daughter being promiscuous (or being raped, same thing).

It all depends on where you find your honour. True honour is never abandoning a family member.

well it depends one what you're talking about here "honor" as "the intangible quality that means other people cant fuck with me because i have the means to wreck them" functionally
