overall the left is in bad shape for civil war because 1. the UMC is broadly culturally antigun 2. gun industries in many blue states are actively suppressed 3. gun control laws are a major method of sending minorities to jail and preventing them from having guns afterward

Left has NATO and a US civil war could be the only scenario where that might be worth something...

French army alone will be enough to wipe out a wignat uprising, unless it is supported by Russia and China (who I suspect would side with them wignats as their side would be weaker due to NATO). NATO is US mil because NATO fights USA's wars. French and Turks have decent armies.

The red areas also also sparsely populated and have long logistic line. A competent military could deal with them piecemeal. Yes, only coasts would be welcoming to European armies. But.. (a) It is not just European armies that would come (b) Coasts are more important.

Hessians were winning, and one of the reason Delaware crossing and battle of Trenton worked was because US army, till that point, Continental army had performed so badly that Hessians did not took it as a serious threat. New York defence collapsed like a house of cards.
