Would you use an invite-only Discourse forum that allowed for Sign In with Twitter for long form, off-site discussions? "Text clubhouse for the autochthonous" cc @sonyasupposedly / @eigenrobot / @MorlockP

(Unsure whether Twitter will show my other reply, so replying here as well). The open source community.

As an aside, I'll note that "closed" != "invite only" in my mind, which is what was mentioned in the original tweet. Closed forums have more uses, I would agree; and they can often be read-only public in some form, which I think is a great comprosmise. Invite-only sounds cliquey.

I think you could experiment on something like that right here on twitter Start a thread w/a restricted Reply tweet, allowing only those you mention to Reply. Seems iike the restrictions will apply to every tweet within that thread The 1st tweet could be only a list of invitees

It would be interesting to see if others could be added during the convo. Otherwise someone could start a new thread w/an expanded list of invitees, then Reply-Quote-Tweet it to the originating thread Or have the discussion split into subgroups, maybe re-joining later
