I'm a little nervous about the DS market, yeah. My bead is that you can split it into two main workstream classes, ML and analytics. At small companies they tend to get rolled together; enterprise scale, split out. ML is mostly being eaten by specialists at big firms,

not to be a fear mongerer but confirmed, bigcorp I worked for eliminated all ds positions on my team last year, there has been a very significant decrease in related openings since I was laid off and when there were they all had 500+ applicants

poland is lucky, it had a communist government for decades so it is much more equal than the usa. but the teleology says that it will eventually adopt free market policies and turn to dust like everywhere else. it is simply the only rational path to take
