More generally I spend most of my time thinking about how I can responsibly introduce my kids to reality and the way they spend twelve years of their childhood seems like an important element of that

The main problem with the linked thread is it's trying to solve a policy problem and I'm trying to solve a "my family" problem. Is at-home radical child led learning scalable? I don't know! Doesn't fucking matter to my choices or assessments of it relative to alternatives.

Then there's also the thing of if you don't have the resources to provide your kid a decent life you shouldn't have one, but there you do actually have to evaluate if public schools are decent or not.
