More generally I spend most of my time thinking about how I can responsibly introduce my kids to reality and the way they spend twelve years of their childhood seems like an important element of that

supplement with other things, facilitate interests, all vital. Even when school is bad, it serves the purpose of teaching kids how to "do this culture" and introduces them to things everyone else considers touchstones. the bad model is 100% delegation of education to schools
