If you don't have a car, think about how you will bring the baby home. We asked friends to drive us home and used a borrowed child safety seat appropriate for newborns.

It really depends. Our baby had somewhat bad colic - sometimes wouldn't stop crying even when I was rocking him in my arms and singing lullabies. It really was exhausting sometimes. So it can become very difficult and there's not much you can really do - believe me, we tried

So the slack may be really helpful. It's best to prepare and not need the preparations

Our first kid woke up every 2 hrs overnight (w/ some variation up to 6hrs) for the first six months of his life until we did sleep training. Some kids start sleeping 8+ hrs/night on their own by ~3 months. Babies sleep all the time but never for very long, so it gets exhausting.

we have a sleep training book we're reading, it tells us not to expect much sleep until 8-12 weeks/

This is super interesting to me
Newborns mostly sleep, right?
I understand they wake up a lot and that's messy . . . but aren't they mostly asleep?
