18. The Velveteen Rabbit This one is actually extremely good and beautiful and I don't think I can actually remember the details of the story and I'm not going to reread it now because I'm not in a mood to sob uncontrollablypic.twitter.com/wYUvovTi0v
Ok I need to work for a while but this thread is far from over F a r from over
19. Love You Forever I liked this book as a child (I don't think my parents read it to me) and it made me appreciate their love for me in a very real way. I also learned about growing up, maybe. I will not be getting it for my kids because it turns out it is heartbreakingpic.twitter.com/QwloJZJtCp
There are 3 famous children's books that people either love or hate: Love You Forever, The Giving Tree, and The Rainbow Fish. I personally dislike all of them.
I'm definitely mixed on the giving tree
Extremely mixed
Need to think about it a little more
Maybe leaning toward getting it to add some profound moral ambiguity to the selection
Of the three, my least favorite is The Rainbow Fish. The other fish demand that this poor fish give up everything that makes him special in order for them to accept him. Horrible message for anyone, but especially for children.
Oh God I had not read that and wow I do not like it even a bit That's some tall poppy shit
It's just awful, and the message is framed as "the importance of sharing."
This household is RANDIAN they're getting The Little Red Hen
@selentelechia
There are so many great older children's books. Little Red Hen is awesome. "You don't work, you don't eat."
