this seems like an insane thing to write but especially under your real name and in public I think people like this imagine they will be commanding men with guns in the near future but my guess is the best they could hope for under a successor regime is an ice pick in mexico https://twitter.com/Amy_Siskind/status/1286814497177579520 …

I agree but am also worried about the erosion of the expectation for law enforcement to identify themselves and who they work for when asked.

Tbf to law enforcement, they did have things like name tags at first but once they (antifa, blm, other far lefties grps) started doxxing them it was decided that they could remove names for safety reasons.

Yes I've seen the "doxing" justification and think it has some merit even if a cop is definitely more of a public figure than an online rando but just generally the whole direction that's heading in makes me very uncomfortable and I'm not sure what the answer is.

doxxing is mob justice and all of my many many complaints about the legal system aside (they are endless) this is worse

To me the doxing is just identifying and enables the mob violence, but the mob violence is it's own discreet thing and it's possible to support one and not the other.

Replying to @Moonsoother @eigenrobot and
the names of police, as a group, can often be obtained from city records but How do you make a complaint against a officer if you cant identify them. If they wont identify themselves. How 2 enact accountability on a faceless mass? "Doxing" doesnt seem like 100% right term here.

It's the exact right term. They were releasing the home addresses of agents. That is a line that should not be allowed to be crossed and, if people want accountability, those groups should think about the stupid tactics they employ.

But once someones name is known in this day and age nearly anyone can get doxed by someone determined to do it so how do you get around that. Unique masks and special codenames? Saying "oops oh well too bad you dont get to know who we are anymore" seems fucked up.

seems we may as well get on with simply shooting each other

I'd agree if the parties involved here wernt "citizens" and "the government"

most likely it would be some citizens and some government vs other citizens and other government
