if you own the place you live in you're paying property tax. if you rent the place you live in your landlord is increasing your rent proportionate to their property tax.

yeah that's what i mean. if your landlord's taxes were lower, your rent would be lower too.

kind of an interesting question generally more taxes are paid by market participants who are relatively price inelastic at least in the short term, landlords tend to be quite inelastic, and expect they mostly just have to eat new taxes longer term, things probably even out
