Generally I’m against the NYT reporter on this one but for this one specific argument I get it. If you believe someone is harassing you and you feel unsafe around them (and that person is a person of color), that doesn’t automatically make you racist

Hmmm I don’t know about this one. I think it’s quite obviously true that she feels unsafe being in the same digital space as him - they’ve been attacking each other. But it seems apparent that saying she’s a racist is a bad faith argument - I doubt he actually believes that

She is probably unsafe but not in any way we should care about

This is fair - I’m not arguing her feelings are correct. What I am saying is her saying “I feel unsafe” is probably an accurate statement (whether or not it is relevant). Balaji saying “she’s racist” (I don’t have the quote but I assume something along those lines) is bad faith

I resent people who use false or unreasonable claims of fear to garner sympathy

What I appreciate B is that he is being openly, honestly disingenuous

I feel like this is a little lacking in empathy. Someone is attacking you on Twitter (the context is relevant, it’s very possible you deserved it but nevertheless) - do you feel safe around that person? Here’s what actually happened:https://twitter.com/sonyasupposedly/status/1278559351091781633?s=20 …
