If you had the power to manifest a parachute using your mind you’d probably do it, no?

sadly i don’t have that power, unless there’s a sewing machine, guidebook, and a lot of fabric handy as well.

You’re missing the point. You have the power to manifest free will, if you do desire, in nearly any circumstance. Your parachute metaphor is apt, but flawed by comparison.

either it is or it isn’t. if i have “the power to manifest free will” then it must necessarily already exist for me to have said power, rendering it redundant. if it does not already exist, then i cannot have said power.

<sigh> this isn’t fun anymore. Belief in *any* immaterial idea/concept can manifest as observable behavioral changes/patterns. Get out of the weeds.

sure, your behavior changes based on what you believe in. but the effects of your belief doesn’t make what you believe in real! seems pretty straightforward and unweedy to me

but you’re right, debating free will is never fun

Free will was never the point! Manifest state-of-mind was the point. ‘Free will’ being another example sans cultural baggage.pic.twitter.com/jV9kwAiZGr

okay but when manifest state of mind contradicts plainly with reality it starts to sound like you’re telling people not to trust their lying eyes
