has there ever been a culture in history were the old were accorded so little respect as today genuinely asking seems odd when you think about it

“The Secret of Our Success” by Heinrich (about cultural evolution) suggested that this was because the pace of change in modern life renders the encoded knowledge of the old much less useful, valuable, at least in direct instrumental terms (some things are unquantifiable tho)
