But that simply isn’t true. If you deplatform a speaker you miss the opportunity to hear what the speaker may say—no matter how stupid or misinformed they might be. That’s an obvious cost that has been endlessly written about since the 17th century. No cost comes from not doxxing

it's not up to you to decide what a reporter can report on, a person's identity is obviously an important piece of information, you just respect the privacy of ingroup people more than the speech rights of outgroup people

Again, what are you talking about? Nobody is calling for a restriction on speech. Saying the reporters shouldn’t do this is NOT the same as saying the reporters shouldn’t be legally allowed to do this.

Not in a federal sense, no. One could say it is for public universities, but that’s very flimsy to say the least. Objecting to platform a speaker on the basis that they bring no value to a given campus and only produce harm is fair game. Your diversion doesn’t work

1. I am nearly a free speech absolutist. 2. Some sorts of speech are likely to cause gratuitous harm and those acts should /not/ be banned; they should nevertheless generally be deprecated. 3. If such speech is used, (2) does not apply in response. TFT simple as
