does LOA know how many rounds there will be? that seems important to answer this. defecting on the other person's last round could avoid the possibility of reprisal. game theory: murder edition!
LOA has an advantage in that it will always do best in the moment, in the scenario it created based on prior responses, but if put up against TFT directly LOA performs exactly as well as TFT does as far as I can tell (they will both reward or punish each other equally)
Yup! Only question is how they perform against others, I think. 
Finite horizon, LOA outperforms TFT. Infinite horizon, no.
There were later versions of the tournament where TFT was beaten in particular by “teams” of entrants that would recognize each other from initial play, take a dive to help some of their teammates and screw over every other entry.
Doesn’t it still behave as TFT to avoid punishment
