there's a little bit of slouching, and a kind of--not even affected mildness to his character sort of like a song that you play at a lower volume when he's angry, he turns down the volume even further--not in a threatening way, just to compensate

Facial set, voice control and body posture are the major tricks from what I can tell from my own experience as a 6'5 300-ish lb dude.

Not really about slouching more, avoid muscle flexion/tension, easy smiles and keep your voice upbeat.

My dad is very large man (6'5ish, 300+ lbs) and was a military officer and a preacher / chaplain later, so had a pretty good read for people. In the hospital, he would hunch and stumble and drop something, so when they first saw him it was no threatening and smaller silhouette
