You may be smarter than the person interviewing you You may think you know more about the subject Doesn't make any fucking difference. You start talking and you are toast if that's what the narrative the reporter has decided on in advance demands.

The reporter's job is to write a story that will get clicks and all they want from you are quotes for flavor that confirm their story anyway. You will have absolutely no control over the narrative. Do not delude yourself: they do this for a living and they know their craft.

Pre-empt the story. Get to another journalist. Give them enough "meat" to make them interested, but not enough to get them frenzied.
