I have mixed feelings about this. Ultimately my hunch is that Making A Stand is somewhat a collective action problem and I don't see any mechanism for coordination among Grey Tribers, among other issueshttps://twitter.com/yashkaf/status/1273681454682312704 …

what would this be for rationalism? would you even want people to adopt it? consider the decay involved in the translation of eg Schlick and the Vienna Circle to IFuckingLoveScience

this is a great point, true for all sides and concepts regrettably and probably a fundamental limitation in mass movements. the best 'rallying ideas' then are statements that can be understood at varying levels of complexity, nuance, but point in the same general direction

"Science is a great method with certain X limitations that can get to the truth over time, etc" --> "I fucking love science" I mean, it's better than "I fucking hate science", but obviously there's something lost. I just wonder if in the mainstream we can't hope for much better

I think there's probably a deeper problem with the idea of highly viral and scalable "memetic rationalism": A big part of being rational is listening to other arguments. "Hear them out! Hear them out!" is unlikely to catch on, because it sounds like hypocrisy to first order.

"Pithiness isn't truthfulness" might be able to break the pattern. It's three words, it's easy to spread because it's a pithy slogan, and it might force people to question other pithy slogans. And it's ironically tautological because it's pithy.
