it was at a QuaNGO there were three types of ppl who worked there (i) big brain international academic types. basically cosmopolitan (ii) white good old boy bureaucrats (iii) black women working as admins naturally this was simply not discussed

instead they decided to talk about generational diversity which I assume was a way of getting at race by analogy not sure if anyone really got the hint

anyway it went very badly the speaker was personable. the content was basically "we want you to get along with your coworkers who might be different than you. So, here is what different generations be like" - boomers: work hard. old - gen x: dangerous - millenials: lazy, egoist

what made it particularly troublesome was that a certain empirical microeconomist was at our table and he kept a running list of all of the factually wrong claims about labor patterns made by the speaker which struck the RAs as extremely funny

the humor came from an audience member knowing much more than the speaker and just privately tipping his hand (he was not himself white not that it matters?
