Juneteenth seems like a really nice idea for a national civic holiday actually Seems like this idea is gaining a kind of momentum? Kind of surprised it hasnt been implemented already tbh

"Why is this day different from all other days?" Day the Emancipation Proclamation was read in Texas, last state in which it came into force

That sounds indeed like something worthy of a holiday, ty. So you weren’t referring to the battle of the Philippine sea of 19.6.1944 after all :)

The entire US industrial output was completely bananas - and it’s probably the only example in history were socialism didn’t end in utter disaster 😂

Mmmh, not sure I agree. War time US *is* the counterfactual to historical socialism. Although I doubt socialism is sustainable for any period longer than a few years and the terms under which the US economy switched back to market oriented production were benign, too

Although it could very well be that I’m missing your point entirely here, but I’m mostly trolling all those who claim “real socialism just hasn’t been tried yet”, which is wrong. The US did and then went back after WW2. Tbf, War time production usually resembles socialism so 🤷🏻‍♂️
