... the American version of this, which is in many ways different, but also in many ways similar. And I had (at the time a super stereotypical Russian accent yet perfect grammar and decent vocabulary, so that was fun. On the positive side: that helped me grow a super thick skin.

I mean, it was not all bad. I was a quick study. Being a musician eventually helped me temper most of my accent, and I met my future wife in high school.
