I think it hits at a bizarre place in our culture. A child of absolute innocence trying his best to behave as he is told to, excelling at it to the point where it's aberrant. The character development & arcs are fantastic, how 2facedness is handled, growing into understanding.

It's not a comfortable show, and I don't know how broadly appreciable something so uncomfortable, even in spite of its fantastic moments of humor, can be. Suppose Bojack was quite popular. Perhaps such shows will find a place in the future when their rights are sold to streamers
