Absent from Discourse: being generationally poor and generationally well-educated. Closest thing is an image of first-gen immigrants - i.e. educated professionals back home, yet speak no English & have to work entry-level jobs. But that is miles apart from my circumstances.

Oh interesting. Yeah, my family seemed poor growing up (recently learned they were actually just insane packrats) but in retrospect the educational opportunities I had were world class.

"Poor family sacrifice everything to provide their children with education, so that next gen escapes poverty" is a widely Seen Experience. Yet poor parents treating education not as path to success but Intelligentsia's Duty is unseen, though it must be common in US too. Weird.

In your country, I guess, the class of intellectual-yet-impoverished workers has emerged only recently. It may well spawn something akin to 'kids of late-soviet intelligentsia'. If it does, and if it sticks as a stable identity – oh boy, I warn you, their media will suuuuck.
