i think it's going to take a pretty major purge/outage and a couple more happy accidents after that. until then, every medium in which the language is used prevents the creation of a longer work.

there's something about the way in which rewards work on twitter that seems to ensure anyone who 'makes it big' on here does so at the expense of the use of the language, developing an idiolect as part of the process of standing out

yeah i've been low-level pondering just how this website Works and it feels like it selects for people who are maybe 80% there and work really hard, the people who are 100% good lack the ability to network, irl was better for this

similarly seems to ensure that any genuinely countercultural movement won't be able to affect the irl because it makes infighting way too easy it might actually be turning us all into birds, that might have been the gag from the start
