They're terrifying incidentally Worked at a Fed branch for a few years They keep to themselves but their armaments are substantial
Curious: what is the steel-manned argument for the Fed having a (separate) police force?
They get a lot of threats and some buildings have huge quantities of gold. FRBNY has probably the largest stock of gold in the world somewhere in the basement. In the event of a state continuity event or similar emergency you would probably want the Fed to continue functioning.
also incidentally they have extremely detailed emergency protocols that employees have to keep at home under lock and key
Ah thanks, definitely hadn't considered the state continuity angle. Also, fascinating. These emergency protocols are also to do with threats to state continuity I assume?
Been ages since I looked through the one I had but I think that's the idea, although local emergencies were also considered My bank had a second, secret (barely secret) bugout space outside the city in case the main building were to become inaccessible
