I can't tell if the riots are going to help Trump or not. Predictit seems to think they'll hurt him. It's tempting to think riots would help get a Republican elected, but Clinton was elected in the aftermath of the LA riots. I think riots certainly help Republicans win if 1/n

they’re not currently in office; they can say “this wouldn’t be happening if I were running things,” and that definitely helped Nixon in ’68. It’s harder to make that case if you’re an incumbent though (like H.W. Bush and Trump). 2/2
