HPs are tanks and great. Honestly, the graphing isn't that useful, but the stack is great, and other programable features very good. Dedicated hardware keyboard is needed for serious math crunching. Can tell what era an Engineer went to school by which HP model they use.

Honestly they're too expensive but at least they're built like 5anks and theres something to be said for good, standard tools in education. Mine became almost instinctual.

Graphing calculators are, UX-wise, THE SHIT, even though they are a scam, overpriced, gimped, etc.

In the German state I grew up in the curriculum was changed to require graphic calculators (which the students had to pay for, obviously) for the final 3 years of the class of 2017, with teachers unironically telling pupils they will be useful in university.

In all uni courses where they could possibly be of some use they will most likely be banned from exam rooms, or you will be able to do far better with excel.

For a second I thought you were talking about my TI-82 in '98. (Necessity) The fact that they're still using essentially the same devices when I presume you could get a cheap app for your phone is pretty dumb.

what was it necessary for? We had Matlab in 1998!

How else will students ever know the joy of writing 5318008 upside down?
