suppose x represents iq and y represents some measurable and continuously variable trait, analogous to "bandwidth" or "clock speed" or "working memory" or "cores" what does the distribution look like? what if you invert the function? how does this vary by trait?

Oh there might be I suppose. Whether there are or not probably depends a lot on the trait and how you measure it. I think the distributions in the book are mostly obvious ellipses but maybe that's because they deliberately put measurements in a format that works for that
