basically, I've been plowing about 40%ish of my income into 401(k) accounts, almost entirely stock indices for a while not inclined to sell any of that on principle however not super confident we've bottomed and continued buying seems pretty high risk if this all stretches on

so maybe makes more sense to pare back the Roth contributions for now and stockpile cash which probably we want for (i) extra security or at least (ii) buying a house at some point. can always catch up later this year if things go further south and I am still employed

worst case, market recovers furiously and quickly and I buy more when it's more expensive than I otherwise would have but that's an overall win compared to expectations anyway ok ive sold myself on this plan thanks all :)
