I’m not sure that any story can survive for 10,000 years or so pre-written word. I think major local/regional weather events are common enough (“100 year flood” etc) that in pre-/ancient history every people would have a least one flood event that seemed worldwide to them.

My understanding of the archaeological consensus is that agriculture dates back 9.5-10k Years, so Deluge's assertion that the official line is 5k years seems wrong.
