I have a semi related story there's a facebook group for alumni of my high school, most of the regular posters graduated before 2000 and are super annoying The school got renovated and they replaced the lockers with these cubbyholes you could put locks on 1/many

so, backstory there, nobody at TJ (my old high school) uses their lockers, that was true at least as early as when
@AlexGodofsky was there. Nobody stole anything, people left stuff on top of the lockers or whatever. So when they renovated they reacted to student preferences1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
as a result they were replaced with the cubbyholes that had wire mesh fronts on them, you could put a padlock on them if you really wanted to lock your stuff up, they weren't assigned though the reason for the wire obv so you can't put padlocks on empty lockers as a prank

basically they needed to be able to see into them to see if they were in use. Well, one woman asks in the facebook group, where will the girls put their pads and tampons? oh boy

I responded to this, verbatim, "in their backpacks and purses, presumably" I said this in full knowledge that in my tenure there, 2007-2011, that is where girls kept their pads and tampons because as I said nobody uses the lockers

this led to an EXPLOSION of anger and accusations of mansplaining

many objections were raised about this firstly, "you can't fit an entire box of tampons inside of a backpack or a purse" now I am not the world's foremost expert on tampons but I think I'm qualified to say if you need a whole box in like 8 hours that's a legit medical emergency

and I pointed this out whereupon I was again set upon, told that women have irregular periods (thanks I'm aware), also that if you put them in individually they'll be squished if they have the cardboard applicators

I suggested putting them in a tupperware which again is something I have personally known people to have done I can't remember why this wasn't acceptable

anyway now for the past like 3 years whenever I post in there the same 5 or 6 40 year old women dive into the conversation to bring up that old brouhaha

Yes I know but the supremely surreal part is like, I was just describing observed reality it was like that south park episode, Human CentiPad, where Kyle finds out he's the only one who clicks "agree" to the EULA without reading it
