It doesn't seem to have occurred to the narrative enforcement machine or the people who are in thrall to it that the same observation gaps that blinded them to covid are exploitable by any energetic political actors willing to operate asymmetrically. Just saying.

The covid crisis has triggered a heightened sense of political awareness among the ad hoc communities of mostly technical people who desire some form of drastic political change. This is not a phenomenon we should merely recognize and let alone.

Now is not the time for some form of grey tribe political party, and if we tried to do something like that we'd piss away any asymmetric advantage we had. But now might be the time more fluid political action. No reason we can't start to organize like the kids in Hong Kong.

Our ambitions don't need to be huge right now, and we shouldn't ape the black shirts, gas masks, umbrellas, and confrontational street actions, at least not yet. But we should start to organize into small, specialized groups, and build capacity from there.

For now, it's important to spend most of our time on covid response, but we also need a focal point for near-term political efforts, a thing to aim our firepower at, ideally something that is achievable. We also want it to be a good proving ground for tactics and tools.

Politics is in many ways a form of information warfare. If there's one thing that the grey tribe could get really good at really quickly, it's information warfare. We have some asymmetric advantages over traditional actors in this domain. We should start exploiting them.

I think the near term target of these efforts should be Vox. As far as the narrative enforcement apparatus goes, they're the calf that's trailing behind the herd. We should graduate from impotent complaining to organized attacks on their status and their credibility.

Right now I've been focused on all gun control articles they've published here: https://www.vox.com/gun-violence-shootings/ … And checking each for the following: -Adjusted for population differences -Used total homicides (not just gun murders) to account for changes in murder methods
