Doesn’t seem like the right lesson. There’s the old joke about the economist who predicts 8 of the last 3 recessions that I think applies here. This would only make me trust tech people who not only predicted this but DIDNT predict previous diseases/disasters that didnt pan out

Sure. This doesn’t much change from trust level of people who think everything/nothing will be a disaster because both those groups will be right by chance sometimes. It builds trusts in people with unique reactions here, reduces it in people who should’ve known better
