Get kettlebells. They don't take up much space at all and it's the best real weight workout you can do. You can't get the loading you can with a barbell, but the motion/balance stuff you get as a tradeoff is its own kind of awesome.

And literally everybody will want to tell you how to use them so that's kind of groovy.
