In the geneology, a lot of names in my family's past have history. My first and middle name have zero connection to my family's past ; my parents just thought they sounded cool. But I have a vague affinity for the culture they came from now. I think about this occasionally.

@anastasivsrex It was a good question. No, I like it. It's just sort of strange, too. Like - I appreciate this connection I have, but it's also arbitrary. Sort of a foreshadowing to a particular interest I have now to a country with no prior connection.

I changed my name when I was 9 years old. My personality didn't change.

It's something I think about a lot since I'm planning to change my name. To some degree I become responsible for those effects going forward.

My name is a 1) ultra-ethnic for an ethnicity I’m not, 2) part of an arcane family tradition no one can explain, 3) entirely made-up, and 4) misspelled in another language. It was only ever going to end one way, I’m afraid.
