Dumb question Can we mass synthesize isolated covid antigens and just inject them I assume there is a good reason we are not doing this

you are correct. this was done in 2016. next step is safety testing & mfg. Natl School of Trop Med proposed to do it but could not get funding, and cancelled the proj. took out of freezer this yr, ETC Q2 2021.

there are some engineering challenges in making it in such a way that the harmful e coli byproducts are removed and the antigen itself remains active. also for some diseases this approach doesn't work. but it is good to do.
