report from a grocery store in the heart of Seattle (QFC on Mercer) - I was the only one wearing a mask, arriving around 830p - Shelves were not _generally_ bare but eggs were completely gone; canned goods were picked over; milk and bread were in thin supply

Healthy people shouldn't wear masks as it subconsciously negatively affects our other behaviour.

I honestly don't get this take wearing a mask would make me continually paranoid, probably do more good by preventing me from touching things than by shielding my face

part of the issue is that surgical masks in particular are designed to protect others from you (eg surgeons not spitting into a patient while talking during an operation or sick people not coughing anywhere) also any time you need to readjust it you touch your face, which is bad.

IIUC issue isn't "touching your face" per se, it's touching eyes/mouth/nose, where virus can enter moving mask around the edges wouldn't do that, and mask would prevent you from touching nose and mouth
