Surprising, if so. My guess is that a thorough accounting would show a different result. The post-“golden age” explosion of content and conversation has introduced new problems along with new opportunities. Perhaps there’s more good content than ever, but it’s harder to find?

Incidentally, I’m reading Neal Stephenson’s Fall, which is partly about a world in which our internet has been crushed by garbage and noise from automated bots operating at scale. So, they’ve had to develop costly new systems of automated and human filters.
