there are probably some gentrifiers in those states although yes from my perspective thats secondary

The issue is that property values have gone up so far in those states that the local-equivalent-of-middle-class gets screwed harder than any of the rich (who can just tank the tax increase.) don’t make the mistake of thinking that national average wages mean anything in CA...

Anyone in CA making less than $250k per household is putting most of its income back into that house...they probably have less disposable income than someone in Ohio, and the SALT cap cuts into *that*.
