Has anyone seen any good theories as to why depression and anxiety appear to be at all time highs in the 20-40 cohort? Or maybe it just SEEMS that way. Looking for really thoughtful analysis, not just glib “well have you seen the world around you” type answers

I think I experience anxiety more than depression Anxiety for me is a physical manifestation of pain, tenseness, or heaviness in my neck, chest, and shoulders that appears to be related (though maybe not caused by?) concern about the resiliency and status of my relationships

Including my own relationship with myself and my well-being and my sense of purpose in the world

just thought of something you know how there’s this notion of “I’m so excited about [activity] tomorrow I can barely sleep”? depression is like the polar opposite of that, where there’s so little excitement about anything that all you want to do is sleep
