AHHHH YOU'RE GOOD how to git good apart from tons of work
thanks!!!
so basic tips that apparently are good but also fast --
- "two thin coats"
- prime --> base coat --> shade --> highlight
- spray primer is FAST (generally easier to get to the overall brightness you want by starting with a primer that's about as bright/dark)
- base coat -- go from the deepest inset bits to the most protruding bits - use the largest brush you can get away with (iirc i just use size 1 Reapers for everything tho) - shade -- you can skip this if you use contrast paints for your base
- highlights -- you can skip this, too, tbh, but edge highlights (you can use base coat paints for this) r gr8, just take the side of your brush and make a lil stroke along the most protruding bits
- always wait for stuff to dry before you do the next layer or you will weep - if you fuck up, dip your brush in water and you can sorta "erase" before the paint dries
- try to keep the paint on the end of your brush-- if it goes all the way up to the metal bit it's way too much paint and it'll ruin your bristles - put your paint in a palette so you can thin each color down a bit with water
- if you wet a patch on your paper towel, you can dip your brush in your thinned paint, then kinda brush it off a little on the wet patch and it helps get the excess off without fucking things (also imo great for blending if you decide to do that)
i think that's all the basic stuff i've got, hmu if you have any questions or want like more in-depth advice :D
This is wonderful, thank you!
if miniature paint tends to be acrylic I can help with some "how to handle the paint" tips
yeah, afaik acrylic is standard! seems more milky in density than acrylic paints meant for canvas, but i expect the same principles apply
