1. female/gender diverse rep in stem is good because it heightens the chances that the decisions being made in stem fields/businesses dominated by stem graduates are more likely to take into the account the preferences/experiences of more than just men.

similar to how persistent exclusion of women from medical research decision-making in the past has meant that we don't know as much about women's health as we would if women had been more prominent in those fields and had more say in how research was conducted/what was researched
