my therapists were hit or miss but they all would have been more useful if they had found a way to get me to act on not being in those relationships

Among the unintentional consequences of making “mental health” into a mainstay of UMC wellness discourse are 1) the tendency of a certain type of person to perceive disagreement with them as being a mental health problem, and 2) therapy as the universal symbol of personal depth.

My most edgelordy unironic position is probably that if you don't want drugs, there's really no reason for a guy to see a therapist.

Good therapists are hard to find. You have to be ready to move forward. That said, if you are ready to move forward & you find the right therapist, they are life-changing. Even if you don’t want drugs. Does everybody need therapy? No. Do a lot of people who don’t get it? Yes.
