Many people I've talked to have noticed that Lambda seems to be aiming a lot of their marketing efforts towards slightly the wrong crowd.

The paul graham article that austen references above as a trust factor is a perfect example - the majority of lambda students aren't san Francisco types who are immersed in this culture, it's a weird choice to attempt to build credibility with students

The lambda admin seems to be operating to maximize for an outdated need: publicity and street cred Needs that I have no doubt these people were perfectly suited to support earlier in lambdas journey.

And it shouldn’t be understated that these people/staff are _really_ good at these things - practically stars in terms of the way they managed to get the organization off the ground at such rapid speed

This happened to me as well - I went through the precourse work and completed it successfully, was told that I had been accepted and was given my start date. I received an email four days before the start of classes confirming this again.

When I finally reached an admin was told that they no longer had room in the course& I’d have to start next month. I could go into the tedious details of this 48+ hr experience,but I did everything i was supposed to In this process,but admin was insistent on shifting the blame

I ended up contacting other staff I knew from twitter, who were beyond empathetic & helpful, and got me finally moved into the current class they had told me I would be in, but I talked to five different people who had this same problem, many of whom had quit their jobs.
