how fucked up is it that parents stereotypically fret about having the Sex Talk with kids but no ones ever awkard on teevee about the Death Talk

FWIW, i fully support a frank, empathetic relationship with death from a young age. my first fully-formed, continuous memory is of my grandmother's open casket funeral—and it's not a sad one. my family's approach to death was a positive influence for me.

Dismissive responses can cause much damage. The most patient parents still get frustrated. Kids only need parents to be engaged *50%* of the time. Elsewise, kids need humble parents willing to say, "I'm sorry. I didn't get that right. I hurt you. I love you. How do you feel?"
